Trying to find the pause button...

The semester is zooming by. At warp speed. I know I've previously mentioned I'm not a fan of spring semester and overall, I'm not. Trav teaches four evenings a week. I need to remind myself that we are so thankful for his teaching opportunities, so I'll just a have a little pity party about being a single parent for four evenings a week. I know there are millions who do this every night. Night after night. I have so much respect for the juggling act they are doing.

So, while I keep searching for the pause button (and did someone mutter something about pics in a previous post? Hmmm....interesting! At least it wasn't a promise!) here are some updates:
  • Papa Chip (Papa Dip as Grace calls him) was here for nine days with cardiac testing and ended up having two heart stents placed. He's in ship-shape cardiac speaking. :) Good thing he left on day nine. Day 10 would have required he relinquish his Social Security card so we could have his SSN to claim him as a dependant on future tax returns.
  • The weather - oh the beautiful weather! Spring is here. Tiny buds are on the trees. There are some perennials poking through the ground. I love, love, love spring! Reminds me of the farm - my fav part was calving season! (Of course, I had little do do with the physical aspect of checking and delivering any calves...it was just so amazing to watch the miracle of birth and see a calf stand up with their wobbly little legs so soon after their birth...oh, I can smell the straw and hay now!!!).
  • Another sign of spring? Our Christmas lights came down this past weekend. :)
  • We've cleaned up the flower beds and the big news is Trav has expanded the garden once again. It will be 50% bigger than last year. We're all excited about this!
  • The big, big, big news is that Grace is in a big girl bed. Overall, it has been going well. There are some evenings she gets up several times before settling in, but most nights she snuggles in. Perhaps it has something to do with the Princess sheets? Yes, that was deliberate...I mean who DOESN'T want to stay in bed when you are snuggling in Princess sheets?!?! It is unfortunate that Princess sheets do not market in king sized versions. :)
  • Grace has had a few early mornings but her wake up calls have been a bit better. Yesterday morning she slept until 6:30. If it hadn't been for her soft little snores over the monitor I would have gone in to check on her (and probably ended up waking her...). Of course, this morning she climbed in bed with us at 3:00, slept a bit, and was ready for action at 5:30.
  • We enjoyed a fun meal with another liver family on Friday evening. Little Kylee had a great check-up with her local doctor - yeah! Carson was SO excited to see Kylee again and it was fun to see her and her family. Kylee has grown so much since January! Keep on, sweetie, and stay out of those yucky hospitals!
  • Carson is on 'Operation Birthday'. The countdown is on. He is so excited. Got me thinking - when do we stop getting 'kid' excited about our birthdays?
  • We did some advocacy work over the weekend - spoke at a press conference about MN's cuts to the PCA program. Two news stations and the local paper did stories. Two local MN legislators were there as well. It was a great event.
  • Easter was special - lazy breakfast, church, and out to eat with Grammy and Great Grandma. It was great to go out - it just felt right this year. Probably a direct link to how crazy things have been lately! An Easter egg hunt at Grammy's that afternoon was also a lot of fun!

Whew! I think that's it...at least for now. Pics are on their way someday! I need to sync the camera. But not tonight!
