We are so thankful to see the snow melting. The big piles are slowly going down. We can now see vehicles coming when we are peeking out of an intersection. Our driveway is almost clear. The kids can play outside at school again.
In other very positive news, we haven't had significant snowfall in several weeks (perhaps close to a month?!?).
As challenging as it is to deal with the re-freeze each night on the streets (and it is so tough on the tires), I haven't heard anyone complain about the slushy, wet mess that greets us in parking lots, on sidewalks, etc.
We had fun at Hockey Day Minnesota this past Saturday. Moorhead was the host and this event is a very big deal. We missed Senator Franken dropping the puck at an earlier game, but did see Governor Dayton drop the puck. We shuttled over with our neighbors down the street. It was a beautiful and sunny day for some outdoor hockey!
Sandbag operations opened yesterday. Since winter's end is in sight (we hope) it's time to gear up for our next season: flood. Thanks to all of the buyout work the past two years, fewer sandbags are needed in both Fargo and Moorhead. I've heard Fargo estimates it will need 3 million sandbags and Moorhead will need 1 million. If you happen to have approximately 4 million sandbags laying around, let us know. We'll get you in touch with city leaders. :-)
