I'm packing, packing, packing tonight for a trip west! My 'baby' brother Chris arrived from Des Moines this evening and we're going to 'the farm' tomorrow. My other little brother, Corey, and his friend fly in from New York City on Wednesday. My sis-in-law, Hilary, and nephew Jack arrive here on Thursday night and Trav, Hilary and the three kids will drive out on Friday (hopefully they have a very quiet, uneventful trip!). We all head back home on Sunday.
Papa Chip is retiring from the farm world and is having an auction on Saturday. He has A LOT of stuff to get rid of. We're hoping the auction won't stretch multiple days (just kidding, Dad...but you do have a lot of stuff!). A neighbor has bought the farm land, so the trip will be bittersweet. Thankfully, we can go back anytime since we know the family well. We are all happy for our Dad though. We're all excited to see each other and make a few more memories on the farm.
I wonder if Chris will make 'fields' in the driveway and ask the UPS man not to drive over them.
I wonder if Corey will chase me around the yard in a dress and jewelry pleading with me to 'play ladies' with him.
I wonder if I can still make a good mudpie.
All memories from our childhood and I know more special memories will be made this week too. I'm very excited to get both Carson and Grace out there too. I am excited to get pics of them by the lilac trees that were brought out as small lilac shoots via covered wagon by my ancestors. Can't wait to show them the trees we played in.
Need to finish packing - have a great week!

Ooh, Corey is gonna LOVE you for this post! ;) Now all you need is a sheltie running around the yard after you, right? I have some great memories of your farm, too. Have a wonderful weekend together!
