Grace-isms

Grace is 'Miss Independent' now.

"ME do it!" is often heard in our house. So is, "Grace's turn", "No like it!", "Mine!", "ME!"...well you get the idea.

Her speech is amazing and she is learning so many new words. Based on her mild hearing loss, some starts and ends of words are a bit harder (especially soft sounds) but she is doing a great job and is working hard at school and with her hard of hearing teacher (even though Grace doesn't realize it is work!).

I think she is going to have a ball at Christmas. She has such expression and excitement for new things.

Grace is also a divergent, creative thinker. She is an amazing problem solver and we have no doubt this will be a skill that serves her well in live (even though it REALLY keeps us on our toes at times).

And, of course, she is funny and adorable - especially when she isn't trying to be.

Last week Grammy and I took Grace shopping at Macy's for Grace's Christmas dress. We picked out 5 options to try on. There wasn't a change room in the kids section, but one was nearby in the lingerie section. As we weaved through the racks and racks of lacy bras, Grace expressed delight - she had 'discovered' what she thought was tons of Mickey Mouse ears in Macy's! Thankfully, she didn't try to grab any of the bras to try them on as Mickey Mouse ears. We hurriedly went to the dressing room and found the perfect dress (and it came with a matching dress for one of Grace's baby dolls, which she is virtually beside-herself-with-excitement about). Grace LOVED trying on dresses and really enjoyed doing a little twirl in front of the full-length mirrors to check it all out. Mom and I giggled a lot at her reactions. It was a very fun girls outing.

And no, Mommy didn't buy her a black bra/pair of Mickey Mouse ears.

Next up - Carson's video phone! But now I need to get ready for work!
