- The end of spring semester at NDSU and MState wrapped up with success.
- We got our garden planted - it's huge! 20+ potato plants, 20 + tomato plants, garlic, green, red and white onions, lettuce, basil, cilantro, and spinach joined the rhubarb plants and strawberry plants. Our four little strawberry plants from two years ago now cover a huge section (so much so that Trav sectioned it off to contain them).
- We made a very quick dash to the Cities on May 17 for dr. appts. for Grace. Carson stayed back here with a caring friend (so he didn't miss school). Grace's appts. checked out wonderfully and our big bonus was spending the night at Nana and Papa's in St. Cloud.
- We celebrated our 16th anniversary a bit late - it was on one of the days of commencement. We had a great supper out on the town.
- Grace's transition to daycare was fairly smooth. She was diagnosed with pneumonia on May 3, so wasn't feeling the best for the first part of the transition. She had her first program on May 20. She was still learning the kids and teachers so was a little unsure for "The Three Little Piggy Opera". While she donned the little piggy mask for a bit, as soon as she saw us in the audience the tears started to roll. (Guess we shouldn't have sat two rows from the front!). All was still cute and adorable and the music teacher picked her up and after a bit he brought her to us for the rest of the program. Tears quickly subsided.
- We had a beautiful evening with her friends and teachers from school at a picnic at a local park.
- Carson wrapped up another year of Sunday School in late May - he learned a lot this year!
- Somewhere in this timeframe, Papa Chip arrived for an eye appt. He ended up having cataract surgery and stayed with us (due to wait time, surgery, and check-ups) for nearly three weeks. If he had hit the three week mark, I was going to ask for his Social Security card so we could claim him on our taxes as a dependant. ;-)
- Grace's cough escalated and we got her back on meds for 10 days.
- We ramped up for our rummage sale on June 4-5. I took June 3-4 off to prep and enjoy some vaca time. June 3 was Carson's last day of 3rd grade and all of the third grade classes went bowling in the afternoon. He was so excited and Trav and I joined the class to help manage the chaos (not sure that was possible with that many kids!).
- I had noticed I wasn't feeling very well in that stretch of days. I had a horrible headache (and I never get headaches), lots of sinus pressure, and my teeth hurt. I was on meds for a sinus infection by the Friday afternoon of our neighborhood development sale. By evening I felt miserable. I woke up early on Saturday with an awful throat. I had my Dad take me in and was diagnosed with strep throat too. Joy!
- I essentially slept Saturday, Sunday and Monday (aside from getting sick for about 30 hours from my first antibiotic). I made it to work for half a day on Tuesday and was wiped out the rest of that week.
- We celebrated Eve's first birthday party on Saturday, June 12. Eve is the daughter of dear friends of ours. Danie was Carson's caregiver for many years and Danie and Jamie are two of Grace's Godparents. We had a great time at the party.
- Grace and I attended a bridal shower for Kasey that afternoon. Kasey has been a caregiver of Carson's for several years and the kids with be in Kasey's wedding in July.
- Sunday morning (June 13) dawned with Carson waking up in writhing pain. Within minutes we were off to the ER. He had a horrible middle ear infection. We had a wonderful ER doc and he got pain meds on board quickly for Carson. Today is his last day of antibiotics and ear drops! YAHOO!
- By last Thursday evening I could tell my sinus infection was back (most likely never gone completely). I got back on meds again for 10 days.
- (Are you seeing a trend here?!? Thank goodness Trav has been healthy!)
- Both kids have started horse therapy. Carson has started baseball, tennis and golf. He'll have a busy summer but it keeps him out of the house and off the TV. He also spends lots of time with his beloved girlfriend from down the street. :)
Time to get a few things done before the start of the day! Hope this is a band-aid for a bit! :-) Sorry about the lack of updates...with sick kids and Mama and all of the summer activities, the last stretch of time has been a blur!
