We are so happy to finally have summer weather here. We've had days into the 80's and they have felt so good! Of course, with all of our rain the mosquitoes are hatching too.
We have had a lot of yardwork - the lawn is coming along fairly nicely. Trav has finished up the step from the house to the patio as well. The garden is a bit sad due to all of the excessive rain, but hopefully some of the things come around.
It's been a busy week at work - we had an upgrade to our student information system occur. Overall, it went quite well. We're now in the midst of the orientation sessions as well - this next week we have nearly 1,200 students coming to register. We have the week of the 4th off and then another week of orientation. There will be three sessions in August as well. Looks like we'll have another record year of enrollment.
Carson is busy with day camp, golf, baseball and horse therapy. This past week he took big steps ahead in horse - he rode with just a worker leading the horse (instead of also having two sidewalkers). He did very well with reining, stopping ('Whoa') and starting ('Walk on'). He also helped put the tack away and brush the horse. I am very excited for him to see all of those aspects of horsemanship. It's not just showing up and riding - there are other aspects as well. He starts tennis in a few weeks and has Cub Scout camp the end of July.
Papa Chip had a follow-up with his surgeon and all is going well. He was cleared to drive so is heading home tomorrow. After nearly three weeks here, he is happy to go home. The time flew by for all of us (yes, I am admitting that!) He'll be back in 3-4 weeks for a check-up. For the first time in a long time, he's not in any pain.
We're continuing with our neighborhood block party again tomorrow night - we're doing them every Saturday night with anyone that wants to get together, grill and visit. The kids play and we all have a great time. We plan to do this every Saturday this summer!
Hope all is well - I'll get pics of the patio up tomorrow! I promise!!!
