Reality

Ya know how things aren't always what they seem?

I'm hopeful the family and kiddo pics we had taken today turn out.  I'm sure out of all of the pics there will be at least one that will be Christmas-card worthy.

At least I hope so!

We had formal clothing shots and casual clothing shots.  Trav and I had two different outfits/each, while the kids had three outfits/each.

The photographer was great.  The location was great - wonderful and natural light at the Plains Art Museum.

Only problems...two tired kids from feeling run down from colds and a 'delightful' time change.

Normally I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 'fall back'.

Today, not so much.  It resulted in two kids waking way too early.  This domino effect caused one certain little girl to think the time just wasn't quite right for her nap.  A certain young man was pretty tired too.

Have I ever mentioned how much Grace loves her naps?

For the most part, the pics went well.  It was a little hard for the photographer to coax smiles out of Grace and for her to stay in one spot.  After some bribing with candy (yes, we did...) it got a bit better.

All of the outfit changes, hair combings, sitting just so, and the up and down challenges of two hard of hearing kiddos, and so on, we were frazzled.  I was so thankful it was only a shoot for a little over an hour.  Don't get us wrong - we love these two to pieces.  It's times like today that we are reminded we are parents to two special needs kids that have their special needs erupt and collide at the same time.  Impeccable timing.  And quite honestly, the only thing that could have made a significant change was to 1) not have the shoot today and/or 2) have the shoot in the morning (not 2:00 p.m.).

So, hopefully we have a shot that turns out.  Just remember behind the smiles Trav and I are sporting, we are secretly wishing for early bedtimes tonight and a glass of wine!

I love the posting Rhonda!! As you know, it's only like one of my favorite things in the whole world . . . my only way of trying to stay connected with Carson (and Grace) now that I live at a distance. :-(

However, I never did get to hear about Travis waiting for the big pumpkin. And I am curious . . .
