Today was relaxing. We got home at nearly 10 pm last night, so knew that we wouldn't attempt church this morning...if Grace did wake early she'd need an early nap!
Grace did wake fairly early. Carson slept in a bit. Trav made waffles for breakfast. Late morning we went over to Grammy's and cleaned up post-rummage sale. Then it was home for lunch and 'big nap' for Grace (if you ask Grace if she wants a big nap or a little nap she always responds 'big nap'). Since she didn't have a nap yesterday, combined with a late night, we knew it would be a long one. After 4 1/2 hours, I finally heard her stirring. I checked on her occasionally and she was out. I don't think she moved the entire nap.
Trav brought in some rhubarb from our less-than-two-year-old plant. Some of the stalks were huge! Several were almost as big around as a golf ball! Guess we should have harvested sooner! After chopping up 20 cups of rhubarb (and there is still A LOT of plant left our there and our second plant will be ready soon too), I made a double batch of rhubarb salsa. New recipe I'm trying. Also made a huge pan of rhubarb crisp. Good thing we all love rhubarb! I made strawberry-rhubarb jam a few weeks ago too.
While I rhubarbed it up, Trav and Carson went to pick up our canoe! We bought it from my Aunt Diane and Uncle Paul. Trav has wanted a canoe for years and it has always been on the back-burner. After our trip to Swan River and some fun canoeing, he got the bug again. Diane and Paul's canoe (which looks pretty new!) was just what he was looking for - very flat-bottomed and quite long. I just have to buy a life jacket and we can all go. I'm guessing Grace won't be out for very long, but she may surprise us. Hopefully we can get out soon in it.
After supper, it was soon time for bed for Grace. She was still pretty wiped out. Carson busied himself with painting his new 'house' - some boards Trav screwed together for him earlier today. It has quite the paint job.
Time for bed soon - it's been a fun four days of family time for me. Back to work tomorrow!
