Yes, I have stacks of panties on our dining room table.Yes, they are all clean!
As you can see we have no shortage of panties. They are all size 2T - 4T. And there are a few more in the wash.
I'll give you three guesses what our lives have been revolving around.
If you guessed trying to stay warm in the sub-arctic temps, you'd be right. (Although it was 16 above today - heat wave!!!).
If you guessed gearing up for the start of the semester, you'd be correct as well.
But if you guessed 'Potty Training Bootcamp' you'd be the big winner!!!
On Friday, January 1 we started the Three Day Potty Training Program. Since we picked three very, very cold days it worked well as we didn't go anywhere! Overall, it is a great program. It starts with the kid collecting all of the diapers and throwing them away. This is a very mental aspect to it. After that it is praise, praise, praise and telling the kid "Tell Mommy and Daddy when you have to go potty" about 500 times/day.
I'm not kidding.
Overall, I would recommend the program. It has been a challenge with a certain girl who also has sensory processing issues and just can not relax to go pee.
It is unbelievable how long she can hold it. I'm not kidding about this either. 7 hours is easy. We've seen 9 hours and even 12 hours. Perhaps she'll be a nurse or teacher?!? Bladder of steel is Grace's new nickname.
But watch out when she goes - the floodgates open!
The first couple of days went well. Some regression last week and into the weekend. It really was a battle of wills because she knew what to do. Yesterday, after 8+ hours without peeing, we told her she had to sit until she went.
On her new princess potty, which also is a step stool and which also plays music when she pees.
I need one of those for myself (only in my size!). Would certainly make the mornings a bit cheerier if I heard a peppy little tune when I tinkle!
Anyhoo...
1 hour and 15 minutes later, she went.
Trust me, we all celebrated. I think I had more cookies than Grace.
Tonight 'the wait' was only 45 minutes. I announced to her that we now have seven, yes S-E-V-E-N, potties in this house. Four 'big' ones and three Grace potties (we were sick of moving her potties up and down...considering two were freebies, we thought we could spring for one for her). With seven potties, certainly access is not an issue. That's enough space for Dad, Mom, Carson, Grace, Elmo, Baby and one more to spare.
After 45 minutes there was a small wading pool in the potty. And there was much rejoicing.
Did I mention that Miss Grace is stubborn too?
Very unfortunately for her, both Daddy and Mommy are also stubborn.
Today was a victory day though - she woke up dry this morning as well as dry from her nap. She made it to the bathroom all three times that she peed today. Still working on pulling down the panties to go, but that will come. Still a success in our book.
Anyway, back to the panties and the title of this entry.
We have Princess panties, Elmo panties, "Trick or Treat" panties, flower panties, heart panties, and Uncle 'Ris panties.
Yes, Uncle 'Ris panties.

We have no idea why, but Grace has termed these her 'Uncle 'Ris' (Uncle Chris - my youngest brother) panties. No, they weren't a gift from Uncle 'Ris. Now if they had tractors or John Deere on them, I can see the connection. But they are pink. With hats, scarves and mittens.
It is THE funniest thing.
Here's to more potty successes in the new year! We're thrilled to not buy diapers or pull ups ever again!!!

YAAAAYYYY Grace! (And apparently we should be thanking Uncle 'Ris, too?) ;)
He he he . . . what a funny girl. I just love the things those kids of yours say. Happy to hear the potty training is going well!
Maybe she needs some "SHA-ZAM" panties like Uncle Ris had...the ones he said "Gramma buy that me"!
No, Mom, I wouldn't want to take the 'Zams away from Chris. I know they still keep him a-going. ;)
