We are so tired tonight - both kids were asleep by 7:00 p.m. We took advantage of this and cleaned house for an hour. All looks great and now we can enjoy the weekend without cleaning projects on our 'to do' lists.
It's been a busy couple of days. Grace had PT on Wednesday - went well. Thursday brought three appts. for her. First, her Early Intervention teacher was here. She is still interviewing us and getting an idea of Grace's day. Grace was napping, so that worked out well. Then we were off to get her Sure Step inserts! She wasn't too sure of them (see pics in above post) but liked how pretty they were. :-) Can you tell she is a girly-girl? They fit her very well. Her little tennis shoes didn't fit over the inserts (we suspected they wouldn't but gave it a try). So we did what any two smart girls would do - we went shoe shopping!!!
Grace adores shoes. Absolutely loves them. This is a little girl who squealed and clapped when I brought home a pair of dress shoes for her a few weeks ago. If we leave our shoes out, she is trying them on, carrying them around, etc. We call her Imelda Marcos because of her love of shoes. :-) We went to StrideRite, which will be where we likely are buying shoes for her for quite some time, both because of her inserts as well as her wide feet. We tried on 12 pairs of shoes. Yes, 12 pairs. We worked with a wonderful saleswoman. We wanted to find a shoe that fit her new inserts just right. Grace LOVED it. She loved the colors, the boxes, you name it. It was so funny. I think she would have tried on more (if there had been more options!). The ones that 'won' by fitting her the best were a pair of blinky butterfly shoes. She adores them and thinks the lights are hilarious.
We did a bit more retail therapy in the mall...we had lunch together and enjoyed a stroller ride around the mall. Then it was time for her dr. appointment. She got a hep A shot and her ears cleaned out. All of the girl-time fun with shoes and shopping went right out the door. She was not impressed. But she made it and managed to muster up a kiss for nurse Julie and Dr. Haugen before we left. She is also up to 27 pounds - she was 24 pounds, 4 ounces on August 5. We knew she had gone through a growth spurt a few weeks ago! Also made plans for our 'Flu Shot Family Fun Night' as we all will have flu shots again this year. We'll plan for late October. Great fun!
She's doing quite well with her inserts. They have given her a lot of extra stability when she is walking and running. She is adjusting to them too. It helps they are 'pretty'.
She had an audiology check-up today and a visit from the county health nurse to see if she qualifies for PCA services. Sounds like she will...we just need to see for how much. That is our goal for spring semester - to have her at home with caregiving here in our home.
Carson's had a good week, particularly considering he is down to one hearing aid. Every now and then one (or both) of them 'fritz' and need to be sent in. It is awful for him to be down one. He's been quite tired this week due to the extra effort and not feeling well. The hearing aid was supposed to be in today, but no luck. Hopefully Monday.
He had Math Achievement testing this week and he reports 'it went well'. He loves school and his teachers and is really enjoying reading higher level books lately.
We've received his lab levels back. His EBV is once again 'dancing'. It's now up again. Not a horrible level, but it's up. Guess he thinks it is time for Mom to color her hair again to cover up that grey!
Cub Scouts is going for the year - he'll be selling popcorn soon. I don't know what it is but that popcorn is so good (and addicting).
Trav, Carson and Grace all have a bit of 'the crud' that is going around right now. Hopefully it passes soon!
Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow - have to wait and see what the weather is like and go from there.
Being the wild folks we are, we are heeding the advice to sleep when your kids sleep. We are planning to be asleep before 9:30. Wild and crazy times at the Kitch house tonight!
Peace...
