Catching up

We had a fun weekend. I got back from Mankato late Friday night. We slept in a tiny bit on Saturday and got ready for Elmo! Carson announced to Grace a few minutes before we went into the FargoDome that we were going to see Elmo. It didn't mean anything to her, but since she had her Elmo with, she thought that was cool.

Once we got settled into our seats, Grace decided she needed to sit in her seat all by herself. Very independent! Once the production finally started, we're quite certain Grace didn't breathe for quite some time. She'd often whisper or say "Elmo" (in somewhat disbelief). She was also happy to see Big Bird. She really enjoyed the show. We moved at intermission time to be a bit closer to where the characters were coming in and out. We had great seats both places we sat. Considering close encounters with Rosita and Grover, it was a good move. It was a fun morning and we walked out with cotton candy, an overpriced program and a tshirt for Grace. We managed to not purchase an Elmo balloon (of which we saw several float to the top of the Dome or whirly neon toy that looks to last less than a week).

Next, Carson got a haircut. He was so shaggy. We've been waiting to time it perfectly for Sherryse and Jeff's wedding. With two weeks to go, we know he'll still look good without that 'fresh haircut' look. He has new tanlines now!

Some afternoon playtime with girlfriend and a canoe trip for Carson and Travis on the Red River rounded out the afternoon (oh and naps for the girls).

On Sunday we slept in a bit more - felt good! We cleaned house a bit and played. New favorite game is 'Lucky Ducks'. We played this countless times with Carson and now Grace is enjoying it. Great game for learning colors and taking turns, although it is very loud. (If you've never played it, think 'quack, quack, quack' running loudly with a battery-operated 'river' twirling around in a circle).

I worked on some craft stuff for Vacation Bible School too.

Yesterday Carson attended CCRI day camp. He's supposed to have it Monday - Thursday this week. Yesterday was swimming day and he had a great time. I say 'supposed to' as we discovered last night that Carson had broken out on his face with impetigo. No luck with getting in to a doc at the clinic last night, so Trav took him to Urgent Care. Since we knew what it was, we weren't wasting time getting him on meds. They barely missed the cut-off to get into Urgent Care, so Carson was an ER case. :( Thankfully, the ER doc agreed that with an immune-suppressed kid, we weren't crazy for bringing him in. Carson fell asleep at the ER.

Meanwhile, I scrubbed and disinfected the kids' bathtub and collected rugs, towels, etc. for what I affectionately call 'contamination laundry'. Soon, Grace had a bath and was off to bed.

We're keeping Carson home from CCRI camp today. VBS starts tonight, so hopefully he can go. We'll see. VBS runs three nights and I'm in charge of crafts. Should be a fun week! With orientation at NDSU yesterday and today it makes for a busy week. I also celebrated being at NDSU for 10 years this week. Go Bison!

More to share since we met Grace a year ago today by date. Oh, how it fills my heart!!! Got to get ready for the day, but hope to post later tonight!
