Warp speed

The last week has flown by. We are simply in denial that next week is September. How can that be? We have been waiting for summer (warm weather) to show up! We've had a few days, but not enough!!!

The last week was full of a lot of work stuff for us (well, not for Carson and Grace, we're not making them draw paychecks quite yet!). Carson and Grace were busy though...Grace continued her fine art of clothing removal in the crib and Carson spent nearly every free moment with his girlfriend down the street. Apparently, his 'wedding girlfriends' were already history.

Once of Grace's recent tricks is pulling the Red Flyer wagon (a good sized wagon) two blocks on the bike path to the playground at school. She has quite the look of determination while doing this. She often pulls the wagon back too (after a good round of playtime). One of these trips perhaps she'll be okay pulling one of us back. :)

Carson is gearing up for third grade. Seriously? Third grade? I'm in a bit of denial over this. I noticed a change in school supply shopping...fewer glue sticks and more of the notebook, folder action going on. Ugh. Where is the 'pause' button?

We do know Carson is ready to get back to school. Once again, he (and we) are at the point that he needs more to do, more of a schedule. He's had a busy summer, but it is time.

Grace will most certainly have a hard time with Carson going back to school. I fondly recall the first day of school last year...her running through the main floor yelling for 'brud-der' and was not impressed that she was left solely with the cats and Mama.

Grace will be starting a play group this fall. We're working on the details this week. We also want to get her signed up for a tumbling class. She'll be doing horse therapy this fall too.

Papa Chip was here a bit over the weekend (or as Grace now calls him 'Papa Dip'). He'll be back again in a few weeks.

Opening weekend went well at NDSU. Very busy, but good. Was fun to see Ang, Cory, Celessa and Jaken as Celessa got moved into her residence hall. In VERY exciting news, NDSU is once again breaking an enrollment record. We're up nearly 1,000 students from one year ago on opening day. Official census numbers for the term will be calculated in about a month. Enrollment has risen each of the past 10 years! Yeah - stay tuned! Trav is seeing it first hand - in four different sections of his NDSU courses he has over 700 students. Thank goodness he has a grad assistant! Go Bison!

Okay - time for bed. Got to help some of those Bison tomorrow!

Yes, the school supply list. We took David shopping. When we were done, he asked "Don't we need markers?" I replied, "They don't have them on the list". To that he said, "Third grade is going to be very weird". The next day, Paul and I bought a box of markers anyway. Can't hurt.
