Biopsy results and a new plan

Carson's biopsy results were PERFECT!  We're overjoyed!  So thankful!

We got word from the Transplant Team they want him to taper down his anti-rejection med to half of what he is taking now.  This means he will take his prograf medication just once per day.  AMAZING!!!!

For comparison sake -

Carson was transplanted at 8 months of age.  He weighed 13 pounds (of which probably 1-2 pounds was water weight).  He was a peanut.  And he was on 1.5 mg of Prograf each day (0.5 mg three times/day).

Today, Carson is 9 3/4 years old.  He weighs 67 pounds.  He is now taking 0.5 mg of Prograf each day - one time/day.

The plan(per his new GI doctor) is he'll have another biopsy next December.  If all looks good, he'll go off anti-rejection meds completely a year from now.  He'd still be on a bile stimulant, a multivitamin and Tums (to supplement his calcium).  Easy.

He'll be having labs monthly now for a bit.  Not great - but we all want to be sure all is good.

He's never had any rejection.  He (as Carson states) has a "happy liver".  And that makes us very happy too!  His results are so amazing - such a miracle!
