Carson is growing. No doubt about it. He did have some big growth spurts this summer. Add to it the maturity of becoming a big brother and he is really getting big. And he continually reminds me that 'soon' he will be taller/bigger than me. Don't I know it? I think I stopped growing in about 5th grade. I'm quite certain I still had jeans in 8th grade that I wore in 5th grade. And they were super-cool jeans. I can still see the velvet and embroidery on the back pockets. I know, cool. It was the 80's after all. But I digress...
Today Carson thought he was starting college. He wanted to start too. Carson was a guest signer in an ASL class at Minnesota State University Moorhead. One of his sweet horse handlers through his horse therapy program, Riding on Angels Wings, featured Carson in a paper for class. I read it tonight and it brought many, many tears. Carson read it too and kept saying 'Wow!'. Nikki - you are such a sweetheart! So, Nikki asked the instructor if Carson could come in to class. Small world that it is, Carson's interpreter throughout Kindergarten is teaching the class. :-) So, the two kiddos and I went. Grace was quite sleepy so sat in her stroller and smiled at the class.
As we were getting ready, Carson asked if he was going to be able to start college today. YIKES! It would have been interesting to see his reaction if I would have said yes, but I wasn't going to go there.
He was a bit shy at first, but quickly warmed up by signing about his sister, plans for the Florida trip and info about school. He was also quite the flirt. It was really special and he was excited about going to college (even for just a bit).
But Carson, slow down. We're not ready for you to grow up that much yet. Besides, your college savings fund isn't quite ready for you to start college yet either.

HA! This story reminds me of when I took Carson to Michele's class at MSUM and I told Carson that he was going to teach the class how to sign and he started very enthusiastically teaching the class how to count money, complete with drawings on the board of 5 pennies plus 2 dollars = what?
Good memories . . .
At least he wants to be the student instead of the teacher . . . his ambitions seem to be regressing toward his appropriate age. :-) Someday he will be there though. I could see Carson being a professor, he loved the teaching thing . . .
