We have met a bunch of girls from the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation - one of the Transplant Games sponsors. They had a booth at the Expo and have a great pin they gave out too (which was a thumbs up from Carson). They had a fun map where you could place your team pin. Carson had a great time (perhaps a little too great?!?) visiting with all of these college-age gals. He told them all about his transplant, the events he's competing in and where he was from (not once did he mention his little girlfriend back home!!!).
The gals were out cheering us on during the 5K too, which was fantastic!
Here's a link to their info and foundation: http://www.phisigmasigma.org/ and http://www.phisigmasigmafoundation.org/
Here's a link to their blog too - http://phisigmasigmafoundation.blogspot.com/ - lots of great stories and pics on their blog!
Here's a blog post about the map - check out the pin over Moorhead, Minnesota - Carson put it there! http://phisigmasigmafoundation.blogspot.com/2010/07/pins-are-currency-of-goodwill-at-games.html
I also found a link to the story of the son of the donor dad who gave the special pin to Carson: http://phisigmasigmafoundation.blogspot.com/2010/07/story-of-joe-policeman-who-gave.html I'm not even going to try to put into words how moving it is. You can read for yourself.
