Sunday @ the Games

We had an awesome, low key day today.  It was much-needed after two travel days and the 5K yesterday.

We slept in (at least the kids did...I have a crazy internal clock).  After the huge breakfast here (another Staybridge Suites bonus - the breakfasts are like eating at Perkins!), we ventured out and did a little shopping to be ready for the next couple days.  Carson wanted cool socks (NOT ORDINARY!).  We looked at both Target and Wal-Mart, but neither had character socks.  So, he was fine with some cool-colored socks from Target.  Whew (at least for now).

We came back, did some laundry (love the free laundry too!), had lunch and all took naps.  Grace only slept for about 45 minutes - Carson and I slept for 2 hours.  Felt great!  Pool time for both kids after that.  Then we trekked out to find the track and field venue.  We're glad we did - the GPS took us through a funky route, so we adjusted for tomorrow.

Next we stopped in at the Energy Center (a main hub) and bought a pin book at the store - a fun way for Carson to store his team pins.  He's pretty pumped about it.  Also got the kids to pose for some pics on the podium.  In the store there were several prints for sale - artist took scans of the Patches of Love quilt (several sections are on display here) and made prints out of them.  Carson signed his name to the print at the Expo and now it is on this artwork.  It'll make more sense when  you see the pics!  It's so moving and special!  If you've never seen a Patches of Love quilt, well, I can't really describe it.  It is so powerful and incredible.  And there is a reason why kleenex boxes are stationed around the display.

Our next stop was Cracker Barrel - some yummy food in store for all!  Finally back to the hotel for an hour and a half of swim time.  It didn't take much coaxing to get the kids to bed tonight!

Tomorrow is a long, busy day!  Three track and field events for Carson (50 m dash, softball throw and long jump)  - we'll be at the track nearly all day.  Then a field trip tomorrow evening to Schuster's Farm - they have a corn maze with the Transplant Games logo!
