They are outta here!

Surgery was scheduled for 3:10, but in typical hospital time, he went to the OR over an hour late. He really didn't mind not being able to eat (by the time he went back it had been over 7 hours!). There were a lot of things to keep him distracted, and that helped.

We got to see him by about 5:30. He was very groggy and out of it. At one point he asked if he was going to be able to have surgery 'today' to get his tonsils out. When we told him that they were already out, he nodded and said 'oh, you're right'.

He had tonsils and adenoids out. He's quite the little snorer and there are times that he wakes up tired. His adenoids were quite enlarged, we heard, so we are hopeful he will sleep better.

We asked the ENT to take a pic of his tonsils - hopefully that happened! Child Family Life did find a pic of tonsils for him before surgery and he really enjoyed that. :-)

After a while in recovery, he was able to get up to his room on 5B. Shortly after we got settled in, one of Carson's girlfriends, Sherryse, (oh and her fiance Jeff!) arrived for a visit! Carson was so surprised to see both of them...he got a bit emotional. We visited for a quite a while. It was great!

We had a visit from Jason, Angie and Paityn too - Paityn's room is just down the hall from Carson's. She has gained a little bit of weight, so that is great. She is so cute (all liver kids are cute!). We hope the perfect little liver comes along for her very soon!

Daddy ran back to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to grab a few things and then to grab some supper. He was soon back to Carson's room. Since it was getting dark, Jeff and Sherryse gave me a ride to RMH. I ate supper, made a few phone calls and took a bit to drift off to sleep. It was strange not being with anyone from our little family. There is only room for one parent to stay in the room, so that was hard.

I just talked to Trav - Carson had a great night. We're alternating between Tylenol and Tylenol with codeine (T3) for him. He had a dose of T3 at midnight, but has been sleeping since. Since he was able to take his evening anti-rejection pill last night, we're fairly confident he'll be discharged today. He had a bit of a popsicle and quite a bit of apple juice last night too. We'll need to check if the hospital has soy ice cream today. If not, he can wait until home. Popsicles seemed to be more of his thing last night anyway.

Report from St. Cloud is that Grace is having a wonderful time and is showing off all of her new tricks and talents to Papa Ron and Nana Jane (and anyone who stops by). Papa and Nana have a new foster baby - he's almost a month old. Grace has been very gentle with him and a good little helper too. She is such a little Mama and I'm sure her precious baby is getting similar treatment as she loves to 'Mommy' to her baby.

It is so hard to be away from Grace for all of us, but she would have had a very difficult time here - yesterday was a day of clinic and hospital waiting and there is only so long a play room can last for entertainment. She is having a ball (and we kinda have a little feeling that Papa and Nana are having just a little bit of fun too!) ;-)

Hopefully Carson is discharged sometime this afternoon. We'll grab a few things from the store and have a low-key evening here at the house. At least that is the plan for now. Stay tuned.

I'm so glad that Carson had a good night and here's hoping that discharge is today as planned. How wonderful for Grace and crew to have some time together, as well; not to mention that they live right along your path to the cities. How great is that? Love, hugs, and lots of prayers. Aunt Diane
