YIPEE!!!

Grace peed in her potty tonight! We started trying potty training today. She sits on the potty quite well, but hadn't made the 'connection'. She really, really wanted an M&M - the reward for going potty in the potty. We hoped that would be a good motivator - I mean, c'mon what won't one do for chocolate?

She wore a pull-up when we went to Menards - we asked a few times if she needed to go. When we got home, she was still dry. She hadn't gone in over 3 hours. So, after trying to sit for a bit, I brought her potty into the entryway area near the kitchen while we worked on supper. I stripped her down naked and let her run around like that. 'Naked potty training' is a hard thing for me - being a germ freak and all. I just didn't let her eat some pre-meal chips - I fed them to her. Within about 20 minutes, she sat down BY HERSELF WITHOUT ANY PROMPTING and went pee. We were all so excited and after some dancing and celebrating, she got her pants on, hands washed and picked her M&M. YUMMY! We took pictures and video and Grace was one very proud little girl.

So, just shows that she was more than ready. Guess it really isn't Grace that needs help with getting trained - it is Mommy and Daddy who need to get trained to help Grace get trained. ;-) We've been meaning to start for quite some time - our first goal was spring break (well, that was flood extravaganza). The rest of the semester was very intense for both Trav and I. The past month has been tonsil recovery. This weekend I knew it was time we got going. She was ready.

We hope this continues. Perhaps a few more stretches of nakedness and she'll be able to tell us. The fact that she went on her own without prompting is huge and we're very excited about that.

P.S. I love the daily blogging Rhonda. It gives me something to look forward to at school where I have internet. It's the first thing I check. Maybe that makes me sound crazy, but I just love you guys!
