Hanging out

The doctor was in a bit ago - Carson's chest x-ray from this morning looked better than Monday's. We looked at them together - it was quite interesting. I won't tell Carson I got to look at them - he'd be VERY jealous. (He's always loved looking at his CT scans, ultrasounds and x-rays.)

Plan (if he keeps temps down and no other 'fun' happens) is to keep him on IV antibiotics for two more days. If all is good, he'll be discharged on Friday. If Carson pulls any 'Carsons' as we call them, then he'll be in for longer.

We won't know on the MRSA culture from his urine until late tomorrow or Friday.

Papa Chip is on his way and will be here by mid-afternoon. Haven't told Carson yet - he knows Papa is coming, just doesn't know when.

We ate breakfast in the 'fort' again this morning. Good times! His nurse took several pictures of us, so they will be fun to share (I don't have the ability to download pics here). But picture a hospital bed with the bed portion pretty high up. He is requesting and eating bacon at every meal - yes, three times a day - since we arrived. I haven't argued, since if he feels like eating, he can have pretty much whatever he wants. I'm pushing carbs and bacon. He's lost over 5 pounds (which he didn't have in the first place) so he needs any help he can get. I told him I would give him 5 pounds from my butt and he thought that was pretty funny. He asked how we could do that. I should have known his questioning mind would ask more and try to clarifiy the logistics of my comment! So, for now, we just keep loading up on the pasta and bacon. We just won't tell his cardiologist about all of the bacon. ;-)

We've had a bit of a debacle getting some specialty labs done for Carson that transplant is wanting to see. They are send out labs. I know these aren't 'typical' labs, so understand where questions are coming in...just hope it can all get figured out! I've been feeling a bit 'Mama Bear' last night and this morning.

And Sherryse, if you are reading this (okay, I know you will!) - Carson loves the notes from you! He is always asking if Sherryse or anyone else has sent a note for him. So - this is for all of the readers, if you leave Carson a note I'll be sure to have him read it! He always tells me that the notes 'help him feel better'. He couldn't get much cuter!

Hey Carson! I just found out that you are in the hospital. We know how that can be no fun in there but from what I hear you are a tough little guy. When both you and Paityn are feeling better we will have to go eat again. We had such a fun time meeting you and you have been such an inspiration to us. Stay tough Carson and get better soon. We will say some extra prayers for you. Angie, Jason and Paityn Elston

Hey, Carson! I wish we lived closer, because I know Jaken would want to come and see your cool fort! We hope you are feeling better soon, and don't forget to keep asking your mom those 1,000 questions! (Do you think she'll know the answers to all of them?) We are thinking of you and praying for you, and we hope all of these notes help you feel better FAST!
Hugs to you!
Angie, Cory, Celessa and Jaken

Hi Carson and family,
Sorry to hear you are in the hospital with that icky PEENAMONIA. You keep getting better and hunker down in your fort and chase that Mr. MRSA away.
Give Gracie a hug from us too.
Love,
Auntie Hazel and Cuz Lois in Williston

Hi Carson-- I guess you won't see this until tomorrow. I'm glad that notes make you feel better. This one is sent with LOTS of LOVE. I would have sent this earlier, but I am using Uncle Paul's computer because mine isn't working very well. So I just now checked in. I'm so glad that you are feeling much better, and can make a fort out of your bed. Be sure that mommy doesn't fall out of the fort. That probably would NOT be funny. Love to you, and LOTS of prayers. Auntie Diane
