Hello 2009 :-(

Well, so much for a low-key weekend!

Friday night brought a call from Grammy - Great Grandma had fallen again (twice in two days). Travis went over to help get Grandma up. Grammy decided Great Grandma needed to be checked out. Off to the ER the two of them went. Once Travis was home, I met them at the ER. Great Grandma had a UTI. So, she was admitted (much to her surprise) to the 6th floor of Innovis. Got her settled in and got home late on Friday night.

Yesterday we had a pretty quiet morning and then I went to Mom's to help clean up Great Grandma's room. We ran a few errands and then Grammy came home with me for a bit. While at home, Carson was acting not himself. A quick check revealed another fever and not a low-grade one! So, Grammy, Carson and I packed it up and off to the ER we went. Considering this was our third trip in two weeks, we were thrilled. Thankfully, we're not yet recognized by sight/name at the ER, but the receptionist no longer asks if our information is up to date...she indicated last night that it was unlikely anything had changed in just a short time.

We had a great ER doctor. He ran cultures, labs and a chest x-ray. We soon found that Carson's x-ray was worse than it was 2 weeks ago. The doc quickly got two other docs involved and we soon had word that Carson would be admitted. One dr. mentioned he wasn't sure how Carson was even breathing as well as he was. His lungs sound not too bad, but his x-ray is awful. Got him settled in the room (five doors down from Great Grandma) and then off I went to gather some things from home while Grammy stayed with him.

He had an okay night and day. He's getting IV antibiotics plus some IV fluids since he's lost weight. He's also getting some breathing treatments. Was doing fairly well this morning and then had a good nap. Woke up with another fever. He's been fighting it the rest of today. He did make a couple of trips to see Great Grandma (they are both worried about each other) and walks around the floor. He's already down for the night.

He was very excited to see two members from our church (one is his Sunday School teacher), Uncle Paul, Auntie Diane and cousin Mark, another relative - LeeAnn, one of his teachers - Amy, Grammy and most excitedly - Daddy and Grace!

Time for bed - I'm tired out. We're so thankful that we haven't had any overnights in the hospital since Carson's last open heart surgery nearly 4 years ago. We are certainly counting our blessings! We're praying that this is a quick stay!

Will keep posted - I also can't wait to show and tell of Trav's thoughtfulness with a precious gift on Friday night.
