Monday evening update

Tonight was a whirlwind.

I stopped in at Target on the way home - stocked up on LOTS of water and some other basics.

Carson was getting sicker and sicker as the day went on (he did go to school for a few hours this afternoon). I got him an appt. for this evening. Since Trav was teaching in Fergus Falls, I stopped in next door to see if the neighbor girls could watch Grace while I ran Carson in. I visited for a few minutes with our neighbor and he mentioned that since we are in a new home, we have automatic shut-offs for sewage. He tried to find ours, but it was different than theirs, so he didn't know where it was at. I called another neighbor and he was able to find it right away in our basement (same builder as our home). I nearly kissed Tim!!! I was so relieved! We have both an automatic shut-off that SHOULD work for sewer back-up, but if that fails, we can manually override the system and shut off everything going in and out of the house.

I was so relieved and could hardly wait to call Trav (and I told him I almost kissed another man today!) ;-) And what a blessing that Carson had an ear infection (yes, I will say that)...otherwise we might not have learned this! Get to know your house, I guess! Who knew what two black plastic caps were in the middle of the concrete floor!?!?

Soon it was time to get Grace to bed and get Carson off to the clinic. Carson has a very bad double ear infection. Hopefully he is feeling a bit better by morning. It is so bad that it is making him dizzy. He told me that it feels like we're back at the hotel in Grand Forks and going up to floor eleven. Good way to relate! He had many tears at the clinic, but was such a trooper. We drove home in torrential rain. Not what we need around here. He got a big bubble bath in our bathroom (big treat) and was soon off to bed.

While we don't need floor drains any longer, Grammy and some friends of ours certainly do. Given the current situation in our regional area, my brother Chris is picking them up tomorrow morning in Des Moines and going to overnight them to us. Thank you, Chris!!!

We are thankful that it appears we'll be able to ride this out, but we know so many in our area will be dealing with so much in the coming days. Please keep this region in your thoughts and prayers!

I have lots of fun pics to post from this weekend - I'm exhausted and need to get to bed tonight. Stay tuned!
